The TCC Supports the City of Raleigh's Affordable Housing and Transportation Bonds

RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT

FOR
RALEIGH TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS

AND
AFFORDABLE HOUSING BOND REFERENDUM

WHEREAS Raleigh’s transportation needs continue to increase along with the growth in the area’s population; and,

WHEREAS a safe and efficient transportation system is essential to Raleigh’s economy, air quality and livability; and,

WHEREAS if Raleigh is to continue to be the place that we so cherish calling home and the place that is most predictably cited as one of our nation’s great places to live, it must have housing that is available and affordable for working families, those with disabilities and the elderly; and,

WHEREAS the 2005 City of Raleigh $60 million Transportation Improvements and $20 million Affordable Housing Bond Referendum addresses both of these essential needs; and,

WHEREAS even with the passage of these bonds, Raleigh will maintain the lowest municipal services costs in the Triangle and among the lowest in the state.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Triangle Community Coalition fully supports passage of the Raleigh Transportation Improvements and Affordable Housing Bond Referendum on October 11, 2005 and urges its members and residents of Raleigh to vote “yes” for the referendum.
