With a pig on the grille, and politicians on the stump, Coalition members and guests packed the house for the fifth annual TCC political pig picking on Tuesday October 19, 2006. The event, which was sponsored by Toll Brothers, the HBA of Raleigh-Wake County, Arcadis, Wakefield Development Company, BellSouth, Byrd Commercial, Mercury Development, Nelson Mullins, LLP, the John R. McAdams Company, and the Triangle Association of REALTORS® was attended by over 140 people – including political candidates for the US House to local candidates for county commission.
For over an hour, the mixture of Democrats and Republicans took turns giving their stump speech behind a slew of campaign signs, and persuaded the packed room to get their vote. Education, schools, taxes, growth and transportation were just some of the issues touched by the candidates.
At the end of the speeches, participants were able to vote in a “straw poll*.” Although the picking went late into the evening, a majority of the audience stayed until the very end of to hear the election results, which are now available on the TCC website at www.tricc.org.
