Annual Meeting December 7, 2004 On December 7, 2004 the Triangle Community Coalition (TCC) hosted its fourth annual membership meeting in Cary, North Carolina. Special guest speaker Ted Abernathy, Regional Vice President of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP), gave the keynote address. TCC Chairman Gordon Grubb gave the group’s annual report, and the meeting ended with a brief awards ceremony and election of officers for 2005. For the second year in a row, economic development expert Ted Abernathy gave an informative report on the health of the region’s economy, and the jobs outlook for the next several years. Abernathy’s presentation, entitled “Staying on Top: Winning the Jobs War of the Future,” can be downloaded by clicking here*. Gordon Grubb, Chairman of the TCC, followed Ted’s presentation with the Coalition’s annual report. Chairman Grubb outlined all of the TCC’s activities during 2004, and also gave a brief overview of planned activities for 2005. A copy of the presentation is available by clicking here *. Members in attendance also elected the following officers for 2005: Chairman- Martin Borden, Vice Chairman-David Lazzo, Sec./Tres.-Julian Williamson, and Immediate Past Chair, Gordon Grubb. Finally, TCC President Chris Sinclair presented the TCC Executive Committee and Chairman Grubb with awards for service. Sinclair also presented the TCC’s first ever Grassroots Advocacy Award to Jim Wahlbrink, former CEO of the HBA of Raleigh/Wake County. The award, named in honor of Wahlbrink, will be presented each year to a TCC member who has demonstrated exceptional service in the TCC’s grassroots advocacy efforts and programs. Wahlbrink was instrumental in starting the TCC and has played a vital role in shaping the organization.
