Impending Fiscal Crisis & What it Means for Our Region’s Growth TCC Annual Meeting Jan. 2007 |

On January 11, over 100 TCC members and guests gathered for the seventh annual TCC Membership Meeting. David Lazzo, the TCC Chair, gave the formal annual report to members. Each attendee received a copy of the 2006 TCC Annual Report. Chairman Lazzo also announced the 2007 officers, and recognized the organization’s leadership for their service in 2006.
The meeting concluded with a presentation from Dr.
Roland Stephen of NC State’s Emerging Issues Forum. Dr. Stephen’s presentation
included an overview of the state’s coming financial crisis, and what it means
for the Triangle’s future. One of the thoughts and ideas developed by the think
tank, and Dr. Stephen, is flat tax on services. This would raise the greatest
amount of revenue, and is more progressive than our current tax system. The
presentation was thought provoking and certainly garnered the active
participation of TCC members.
